Fire at Bermondsey recycling centre – resident update

Many of you will already be aware that there was a significant fire at the recycling centre in Bermondsey. The incident was first reported yesterday evening, with the London Fire Brigade confirming that the first calls were received at 5.30pm and the fire continued until just before midnight, the cause has not yet been established.

We understand that the fire has now been put out. However, there may still be debris and smoke in the air locally, and residents are advised to keep windows and doors closed if they are affected by smoke.

The fire also caused disruption to rail services, particularly around London Bridge, with Southeastern and Thameslink services affected. Anyone planning to travel should check before setting out in case of any ongoing delays or changes to services.

Thankfully none of our residents were affected by this and we are grateful to the London Fire Brigade for their hard work to put the fire out late into the night.
